Sept. 6 Community Brief

September 6, 2013

Clay Potters Garden Club

Clay Potters Garden Club met at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 at Benchmark Health Care with 17 present. Bernie Zeller opened the meeting by leading in the pledge to the flag. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved and a treasurer’s report was given. Discussion followed on activities at the Cass County fair.

Announcement was made of the West Central District annual meeting Saturday, Sept. 7, in Sedalia. There will be a flower show that day, also. Members are encouraged to participate.

Cindy Keesler and Zeller told of a recent “Terranium Workshop” they had at Golden Years with 10 residents attending. They had a lot of fun and it was a great success for all.

The Harrisonville Community Center is planning to install a raised bed and is asking our club to donate to the project.

Cass Regional Hospital Plant Sale will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29.

Plans were made to tour the gardens of Little Sisters of the Poor Care Center on Aug. 23.

Jeanette Bartles gave a program on “Flower Show Scale of Points.” It was very interesting and informative.

Our next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the home of Debbie Lehman.
