Stewart K. Chase, 52 of Harrisonville, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013.

Family has chosen a simple cremation with a Celebration of Life Service to be scheduled at a later date.

Ronald James Faulkenberry

April 8, 1960 - Sept. 2, 2013

Ronald James Faulkenberry, 53, was born April 8, 1960, in Harrisonville, the son of John Tom, Melba Faulkenberry, and Linda Faulkenberry. He died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at his home in Tightwad, surrounded by family.

Ronnie was employed by MoDot in January of 1979. He then was united in marriage to Lisa Gail Brisbin on Aug. 17, 1979. They resided in East Lynne, where they had three children, Jeffrey Allen Faulkenberry, Kelly Dawn Faulkenberry and Travis James Faulkenberry. They then moved to Tightwad in 1998. Ronnie retired from MoDot on Sept. 30, 2011. Ronnie was very involved in the community by serving as a volunteer fire fighter/first responder at the Fire Department and president and worship leader of Souls Harbor Worship Center of Tightwad. Ronnie was a gifted musician and singer and on Jan. 13, 2000, Ronnie gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and he loved to spread the gospel by singing and praising the Lord.

He is preceded in death by his mother Melba Faulkenberry, October 1975, and his father John Tom Faulkenberry, December 1996.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Gail Faulkenberry of the home; mother Linda Lou Faulkenberry; son Jeffrey Allen Faulkenberry and wife Natasha; daughter Kelly Dawn Marriott and husband Josh, and Travis James (T.J.) Faulkenberry and wife Michelle; his beloved grandchildren, Leah Lou Faulkenberry, Jacob Tyler Faulkenberry, Suvanna Nicole Faulkenberry, Madysen Nicole Faulkenberry, Hunter Charles Marriott, Kimber Dawn Marriott, and Justice Lynn Faulkenberry.

Ronnie also is survived by his brothers Tommie Faulkenberry, Terry Faulkenberry, and Stephen Brisbin and his sisters Brenda Howard, Sandra Yelton, Nancy Hurtt, Linda Doreen Green, Stephanie Wolfe, Julia Morris, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends.

“His heritage to his children was not words or possessions but an unspoken treasure. The treasure of his example as a man and a father.”

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Sept. 5 at Benson Center, Clinton, with a 2 p.m. graveside service following in Strasburg Cemetery, Strasburg. The family received friends 6-8 p.m. Sept. 4 also at Benson Center. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ron Faulkenberry Memorial Fund C/O Hawthorn Bank and may be left in care of the funeral home. The funeral services had Rev. Merlin Anstine, Rev. Margie Briggs and Rev. Clifford Woolery officiating. The musical selections were “If You Knew Where I Am Standing” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” rendered by Ronnie Faulkenberry. The casket bearers were Jeff Faulkenberry, T.J. Faulkenberry, Josh Marriott, Tommie Faulkenberry, Terry Faulkenberry and Stephen Brisbin. Interment was in Strasburg Cemetery, Strasburg.

Gerald Dean Pruitt

March 6, 1937 - Sept. 9, 2013

Gerald Dean Pruitt, 76, of Peculiar, was born in Allen Springs, Allen Co. Ky., the son of Carsmer Milton and Ida Belle (Crabtreee) Pruitt. He died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at his home.

Gerald was a Marine veteran.

Funeral services were Sept. 13 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City.

Larry Lewis Frazier

Feb. 6, 1946 - Sept. 9, 2013

Larry Lewis Frazier, 67, of Gravois Mills, formerly of Harrisonville, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. Memorial services were at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Contributions may be made to Phi Gamma Delta, Larry Frazier Memorial, c/o John Davis, P.O. Box 80, Liberty, MO 64069.

Larry was born Feb. 6, 1946, in Adrian, a son of Thomas and Ruth Winnonah (Lewis) Frazier. He was a 1964 graduate of Harrisonville High School and a 1968 graduate of William Jewell College, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received a purple heart, bronze star and an air medal.

Larry moved to Kingman, Kan., after his release from the military in 1970 and managed the Ben Franklin Store in Kingman. He later went to work for Fabpro Oriented Polymers in Kingman for a number of years, and in 2009, he moved to Osage Beach. Larry was a member of West Lake Christian Church in Laurie. He was a member and past Master of Ninnescah Masonic Lodge No. 230 A.F. and A.M. in Kingman, Kan.; the Kansas York Rite Chapter No. 71, Kingman; Wichita, Kan., Scottish Rite and the Midian Shrine in Wichita.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Zelda Ann Frazier Pulliam. Survivors include two brothers, Thomas H. Frazier, Kansas City, and Robert “Bob” Frazier, Overland Park, Kan.; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lorene, adopted daughter of Isaac G. and Mary (Miller) Hartzler, died at Casa Del Sol Retirement Center in La Junta, Colo., Monday, Sept. 9, 2013.

Funeral services were Sept. 14 at Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church, Garden City, with interment in Clearfork Cemetery, Garden City.

Mary Doris Davis

Feb. 18, 1917 - Sept. 12, 2013

Mary Doris Davis, 96, of Harrisonville, was born Feb. 18, 1917, in Harrisonville the daughter of Roy John and Mary Edith (Barnett) Denham. She died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at her home surrounded by love and family.

On Feb. 25, 1942, Mary Doris was united in marriage to Harlan A. Davis in Harrisonville.

Mary Doris was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Cass County Historical Society. Mary Doris was a lifelong area resident.

Besides her parents, Mary Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan, on Oct. 26, 1986; and her brother Roy “John” Denham.

Mary Doris is survived by two sons, Denham H. Davis and wife, Vikki, Spokane, Wash., Daniel J. Davis and wife, Janet, Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.; a granddaughter, Jennifer; two grandsons, Scott and Craig; a great-granddaughter and six great-grandsons; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville. Burial will be a private family service at Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23 at the funeral home.

Frances Eliza Houk

Aug. 5, 1916 - Sept. 13, 2013

Frances Eliza Houk, 97, of Garden City, was born Aug. 5, 1916, in Lee’s Summit, the daughter of Fred Labon and Myrtle Mae (Acre) Prather. She died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville.

On Aug. 10, 1938, Frances was united in marriage to Emmett Willis Houk in Kansas City, Kan.

Frances was employed as an assembler for Western Electric, Lee’s Summit, before her retirement in 1982. She was a member of First Christian Church, Garden City. Frances enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, quilting and cooking. She had lived in Kansas City before moving to Garden City.

Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett, on Aug. 31, 1986; five brothers, Raymond, Nathan, Charles, Allen and infant brother, Donald; five sisters, Almeda, Effie Lou, Viola, Dorothy and infant sister, Lynn.

Frances is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Stone and Claudia Kozisek and husband, Gene, all of Garden City; four grandchildren, Terree Stone, Sherree Harris, Ronda James and Ryan Gulley; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were Sept. 18, at Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City. Burial was in Lee’s Summit Cemetery, Lee’s Summit.

Alfred O’Connel Brown, Jr., 69, of Harrisonville, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at his home in Harrisonville.

Alfred is survived by three brothers, a sister, other relatives and many friends.

Teddy Richard Harper

Aug. 7, 1932 - Sept. 16, 2013

Teddy Richard Harper, 81, of Freeman, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City. Masonic services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, with funeral to follow. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery.

Teddy was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Freeman, the son of Oscar Raymond and Fay Elizabeth (Duncan) Harper. He was a graduate of Freeman High School and had been a lifelong resident of Freeman. He was married to Barbara Ilene Korneman and to this union three children were born. He later married Joan Wilkinson. Teddy was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean war. He worked for Fairmont Foods as an over-the-road truck driver for more than 39 years. Teddy was a member and past Master of Grand River Masonic Lodge No. 276, Freeman. He also was a member of Eastern Star and Freeman Baptist Church.

Teddy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joan, on April 6, 1996, one brother, John E. Harper, and one sister, Joan McNally. He is survived by one son, Brent Harper (Melissa), Freeman; two daughters, Elizabeth McCreery, Merriam, Kan., and Lesley Canady, Freeman; one brother, Bill J. Harper, Freeman; six grandchildren, LeeAnne Cregan, Teddy Harper, II, Christopher Harper, Jacob Mossman, Crystal Haase and Daniel Canady, and 10 great-grandchildren.
