Golf tournament raises over $6,000

The Harrisonville Public School Foundation raised approximately $6,500 at its recent Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament Sept. 27. The tournament was part of the Homecoming festivities for Harrisonville High School.

The Foundation will use its portion of the proceeds to fund its programming including teacher grants, the Advanced Degree Teacher Initiative, Food 4 Thought backpack program, the Excellence in Academics program and scholarships.

The Foundation has presented nearly $17,000 through its Advanced Degree Teacher Initiative which reimburses district teachers for Master’s degree coursework and nearly $52,000 in teacher grants. In June, the Foundation awarded $10,000 in scholarships to four-year Excellence in Academics recipients at HHS.

The winning four-some was sponsored by Shaun Holden and included Brian Riffle, Jon Miciano, Ruben Carter and Mike Daniels.

In the B Flight, the winning team was sponsored by Cretcher-Heartland/Brown Restoration.

Winning the Closest to the Pin contest was Mike Daniels. The Women’s Longest Drive winner was Lynn Laffoon and the Men’s Longest Driver winner Brian Raine.

Fifty participants competed in the four-person scramble tournament.

The True Wildcat event sponsors were Dr. and Mrs. Shaun Holden and Aramark. Royal Blue tournament sponsors were Cass Regional Medical Center, Brown Restoration/Cretcher-Heartland, CBIZ, Church and Dwight, Commerce Bank, Holland’s Auto Sales, Family Center, The Law Office of Lynn S. Laffoon, and Sherwood Community Bank. The drink cart sponsor was American Heritage Realty.

Hole sponsors included Edwin V. Long, DDS, Westbrook and Co., PC, Super Auto Sales, Reece Nichols, Smith Realty, Fogel-Anderson Construction, Rotary Club of Harrisonville, Steve D. Croy – State Farm Insurance, Darold and Dee Shelton, Edward Jones, George Morse, State Farm Insurance, Daryl Bohannon, Dr. and Mrs. Bryan McDonald, Athletic and Rehabilitation Centers, the Harrisonville Schools Board of Education, Excalibur Contracting, and Bennett Signs.
