With Halloween less than a week away, there are a number of harvest and Halloween events planned around Cass County.
There will be a Halloween Carnival at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at the Cass County Library Northern Research Center in Belton. Participants are invited to show off their Halloween costume early at the library. Activities include carnival games, a spooky craft and prizes.
Sherwood Elementary PTO will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 in the school’s parking lot.
Games, bounce houses, candy and concessions will be available.
Admission is free. Donations will be accepted for a local food pantry.
on Main Street
Trick or Treat on Main Street in Belton will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. Local businesses will be passing out candy throughout the event.
The eighth annual Harvest Moon Festival will be Saturday, Oct. 26 in downtown Peculiar.
Parade begins at 11 a.m., and the festival continues through 7 p.m. Activities include live music (Magnificent Bang-Bangs, High Mileage Band and Konza Swamp Band), petting zoo, pony rides, train rides, trick-or-treating, scavenger hunt, hourly raffles, beer and wine garden and business vendors.
Harrisonville Parks and Recreation will be offering Haunted Hayrides 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. Rides leave from Shelter 7 at the Harrisonville City Park.
The Haunted Basement of the Peculiar Lions Community Building, 500 Schug Ave., will be open 6-10 p.m. Oct. 26, 27, 30 and 31. Admission is free. Donations accepted.
Faith Baptist Church Trunk-N-Treat
There will be a Trunk-N-Treat event from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Faith Baptist Church, 23705 E. State Rte. 2 Harrisonville.
There will be candy, giveaways and refreshments.
The Belton, Grandview and Kansas City Railroad train depot in Belton will be offering Pumpkin Express rides Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26-27.

Cass County Elks Lodge
The Cass County Elks Lodge, 2400 N. Mo Rt. 291, Harrisonville, will be providing a safe environment for kids to trick-or-treat 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27.
There will be free pumpkin painting 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Marler Wirt Allen Park near the Harrisonville Square.
Space is limited.
The Harrisonville community is invited to the third annual Trunk-or-Treat on the Historic Harrisonville Square 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27.
Businesses, organizations, and individuals “sponsor” car trunks on the square full of Halloween treats.
Children of all ages are invited to wear their Halloween costume and trick-or-treat around the square.
The event is free, but non-perishable food donations will be collected for admission.
The square will be closed to traffic during the event. Participants are encouraged to park in the city lots near the library and enter the square at the corner of Wall and Lexington.
In case of rain, the event will be moved to North Park Activity Center.
The event is being sponsored by the Harrisonville Parks and Recreation Department and the Harrisonville Rotary Club.
The annual Trick-or-Treating at Golden Years, 2001 Jefferson Pkwy., Harrisonville, will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27.
Harrisonville Tween Zone Face Painting Party
A special Tween Zone party at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at the Harrisonville Public Library, invites children in third through sixth grade get into the Halloween spirit.
Participants will learn special face painting effects to create a unique costume look.
Drexel Halloween Parade
The annual “Fun and Safety Night Costume Parade” will begin at 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, in Drexel.
There will be Trick-or-Treating at the Drexel Library following the event.
Storytime and Craft
The Archie Public Library invites participants to meet at the library at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, for a Halloween story and craft. Costumes are encouraged.
Fall Festival in Cleveland
The First Baptist Church of Cleveland will have its annual Fall Festival 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.
Archie’s Trick-or-Treat Lane will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, on Main Street.
Freeman Haunted House
The Freeman Community Club will have its annual Haunted House for children 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.
Children 12 years of age are invited to participate.
South Metro Fire District Safe Halloween
The South Metro Fire District will hold its annual “Safe Halloween” event for children 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.
The event will take place in a large tent behind the fire station, located at 611 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore.
Activities include a “little tyke” Halloween maze, trick-or-treating, games and refreshments.
Harvest Moon Glow Run
Shull Elementary in Peculiar is hosting a Harvest Moon 5K Glow Run/Walk at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8.
The event is open to the public. Proceeds will benefit the Shull Elementary PTA.
