Raymore-Peculiar’s boys’ cross country team captured a convincing Class 4, District 7 victory Oct. 26 at Lake Jacomo.
The Panthers had a team score of 47 points, ahead of Rockhurst in second with 62 points. The top four teams and top 30 individuals in each district earn a spot at sectionals. The Class 4, Sectional 4 meet will be held Nov. 2 at Raymore-Peculiar.
Raymore-Peculiar was led by Justin Howard in fifth with a time of 16 minutes, 31.21 seconds. Jason Fambrough finished sixth with 16:34.31.
Rhett Hammers took eighth with 16:50.43, followed by Courage Davis in 12th with 17:02.71, Keaton Wasson in 16th with 17:07.87, Hunter Fawcett in 20th with 17:15.72 and Kit Leonard in 33rd with 17:44.87.
The Raymore-Peculiar girls placed fourth as a team with a score of 78 points, behind St. Teresa’s Academy in first with 57, Lee’s Summit West in second with 60 and Lee’s Summit North in third with 63.
The Panthers were led by Kami Tabor in eighth with a time of 20:02.72 and Kiley Deain in ninth with 20:05.12.
Jamie Wharton placed 18th with a time of 20:22.28, followed by Kayla Allen in 19th with 20:25.1, Alie Gilespie in 31st with 21:04.93 and Amanda Wharton in 32nd with 21:08.5.
The Belton boys’ team took ninth with a team score of 262 points and did not qualify any runners to sectionals.
The Pirates were led by Dylan Amend in 36th with a time of 17:54.68, followed by Chris Basinski in 52nd with 18:44.24, Joe Bedwell in 57th with 19:09.31, Matt Lind in 60th with 20:01.65, Brandon Gibbs in 63rd with 23:24 and Moriz Weber in 64th with 25:14.
