Sherwood Middle School September students of the month were honored at an assembly Sept. 26. SMS teachers select one student per grade level for each of seven categories. The honorees were given a certificate and will be treated to pizza.

Honorees are divided into categories: mathematicians, scientists, historians, writers, artists, readers, musicians and for the character trait of the month, honesty.

One student per month is selected by the eighth grade teachers to be recognized at the Board of Education meeting. The Student Spotlight honoree for September was Nick Miles.

Miles was chosen because he is a great student; he takes pride in his work and has a great work ethic in the classroom. His work is always completed to the highest standards and he can often been seen helping out fellow students.

Miles is involved in multiple sports and is considered a leader on the team. At school, he plays football and basketball. Outside of school, Miles enjoys baseball and golf. He also likes hunting. Miles is the son of Brenda Escalante and Martin Miles.
