Clay Potters Garden Club

Clay Potters Garden Club met Oct. 14 at Benchmark Health Care with 14 members and one guest, Paula Diaz.

Club president Bernie Zeller opened the meeting by leading in the pledge to the flag. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and a treasurer’s report was given

A slate of officers for January 2014-2015 was read as follows: President Darra Simpson, Vice President Patty Weaver, Secretary Denise Grow, Treasurer Debbie Lehman. Election followed as stated.

West Central District Fall Meeting will be Saturday, Nov. 16, in Harrisonville at the Extension Office for a soup/salad luncheon. Price will be $12.50 catered by Susan Hines.

Nancy Best gave a short presentation on “Trees,” a program she had heard earlier with many excellent pointers.

Simpson made a motion to donate $50 to the scholarship fund for next year. We also will give $10 to World Gardening and Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl, as well as $5 to Gazebo Maintenance.

Paula Diaz, master gardener, gave an excellent program on “Rain Garden–Use of Native Plants.” She had lots of great information, pictures, charts and handouts.

Our next meeting will be at 7 p m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the home of Judy Manning.
