For the first time in school history, Raymore-Peculiar qualified both its boys’ and girls’ cross country teams to the Class 4 state meet.
The top four teams and top 30 individuals qualify from the Class 4, Sectional 4 meet held Nov. 2 at Raymore-Peculiar. The Panther boys finished second with a team score of 73 points, behind Liberty in first with 59.
Jason Fambrough led the way for Raymore-Peculiar with a fourth place finish of 16 minutes, 05.0 seconds. He was followed by Justin Howard in 10th with 16:18, Keaton Wasson in 22nd with 16:51.5, Courage Davis in 26th with 16:53.9, Rhett Hammers in 27th with 16:58.1, Cole Brooks in 40th with 17:21 and Hunter Fawcett in 44th with 17:23.3.
The Raymore-Peculiar girls placed fourth with a team score of 107 points, behind Lee’s Summit West in first with 79 points, Lee’s Summit North in second with 82 points and Kearney in third with 83 points.
The Panther girls were led by Kami Tabor in 10th with 19:24, followed by Kayla Allen in 22nd with 19:56.9, Kiley Deain in 26th with 19:59.2, Jamie Wharton in 37th with 20:18.6, Breanna Birkett in 45th with 20:41.2 and Amanda Wharton in 52nd with 20:52.2.
The Raymore-Peculiar teams will compete in the Class 4 state meet Saturday, Nov. 9 at Oak Hills Golf Center, Jefferson City.
