Pleasant Hill’s 11 wins is a school record for most victories in a season. But the Roosters couldn’t made it 12-0 with a 28-16 loss to also undefeated Bolivar in the Class 3 district game Nov. 11 at Bolivar.
“We can hold our heads high for the effort and class we have shown not only in Bolivar, but throughout the season,” Pleasant Hill head coach Kyle Roach said. “ I am very proud of our players and staff. Bolivar is a very good and well coached team.”
The Roosters scored first in the game on a fumble recovery and a 54-yard return by Tommy Moore to lead 6-0 with about eight minutes to go in the first quarter. Then Pleasant Hill recovered its own kickoff and ended the drive with a 25-yard field goal by Tanner Pettet to lead 9-0.
Bolivar responded with a 4-yard touchdown in the second quarter to tighten the gap to 9-7 at halftime.
The Liberators took over a lead in the third quarter on a 9-yard touchdown, along with a 2-point conversion to lead 15-9. Pleasant Hill had to punt their possession away, but the ball landed on the 1-yard line. Bolivar fumbled and Pleasant Hill recovered, leading to a 1-yard touchdown run by Kolin Rogers. The Roosters then had a 16-15 advantage.
Bolivar scored again before the quarter ended on a 4-yard carry to put the Liberators ahead 21-16. Bolivar sealed the victory with a 1-yard touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the game.
Pleasant Hill ends the season with a 11-1 record.
