McEowen students honored

November 15, 2013

Harrisonville McEowen Elementary students were honored at a monthly assembly Oct. 30. The school hosts a monthly Positive Action Assembly to recognize student accomplishments.

To begin the assembly, Boy Scouts led McEowen students in the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem.

The October Students of the Month were fourth graders Payton Baker and Chloe Shepard, and fifth graders Bradley Fitzpatrick and MacKenzie Morrow. Students of the Month are nominated by their classroom teacher.

Each month, McEowen students who exhibit the character education trait of the month are honored. October’s trait was Responsibility.

Students are also recognized for writing and math at each Positive Action Assembly.

Fifth graders Macey Shoemaker and Selah Norman received Service Above Self Awards from the Harrisonville Rotary Club for September and October. Each month, the Rotary Club recognizes students at McEowen for their work in helping others.

The Harrisonville Kiwanis Club honored students as part of its Terrific Kids Program for fourth graders. This program seeks to recognize students for achieving goals outside the academic realm.

McEowen also recognizes a staff member at the school as the McEowen Sonic Super Star Staff Member. Music teacher Alyssa Holsten was honored as the October recipient.
