HHS names October students of the month

Harrisonville High School has named seniors Chelsea Gibbs and Kyle Hix as the students of the month for October.

Gibbs is the daughter of Jerry and Stacey Gibbs.

Her school activities include Scholar Bowl, Robotics, National Honor Society and Science Club.

Gibbs serves as President of National Honor Society and Secretary for HHS FIRST Robotics Team 2164.

She enjoys reading, snow skiing, painting and photography.

Gibbs’ plans after high school are to attend North Carolina State University to major in biomedical engineering. After college, she would like to become an orthopedic surgeon or work with neuroprosthetics.

Hix is the son of Dave and Carol Hix.

His school activities include wrestling, baseball, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, History Club, National Honor Society and Freshmen Mentoring.

He is a manager for the softball team, History Club president and a member of the FCA leadership team. Hix has been Academic All-Conference in wrestling and baseball and Academic All-State in baseball.

Outside of school, he is a member of Antioch Southern Baptist Church.

His hobbies including boat restoration, reading, fishing and baseball.

After high school, Hix plans to attend Missouri Science and Technology to become an engineer. He hopes to join Engineers without Borders and do mission trips.

The HHS Students of the Month are selected on the basis of character, citizenship and academics.
