High school

theatre performance

The Harrisonville High School Drama Department will present the musical, The Sound of Music. Performances will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 22-23, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Harrisonville High School Performing Arts Center, 1504 E. Elm.

OCC gift collection

Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, is looking to Harrisonville-area residents to collect more than 3,500 gift-filled shoeboxes during National Collection Week.

Harrisonville United Methodist Church, 2600 E. Mechanic St., is a drop-off site for OCC shoebox gifts. Collection hours are 4-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22; 1-3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday Nov. 23-24; and 10 a.m.-noon Monday, Nov. 25.

Christmas shopping

bazaar

There will be a “Hope for Christmas Bazaar” 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Cass County Elks Lodge No. 2791, 2402 N. 291 Hwy., Harrisonville.

There will be more than 35 shopping booths, live entertainment and concessions.

Admission is free and all proceeds from the event benefit the Cass County Hope Haven Christmas fund.

Chili supper

Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church will be hosting a chili supper 4:30-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Harrisonville Community Center, 2400 S. Jefferson Pkwy.

Menu includes chili, soup, pies and drinks. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12, and kids under 6 eat free.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the church’s youth group first international missions trip.

Thanksgiving dinner

The Cass County Rescue Mission’s annual Thanksgiving dinner will be Saturday, Nov. 23. Meals will be served at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The CCRM is located in the American Legion Building, 303 E. Pearl St.

The rescue mission serves free meals every Saturday at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, contact Mark Roach at 816-392-9494.

Cass County Toy Shop

The Cass County Toy Shop is seeking families to adopt a local family this Christmas by purchasing gifts.

Participants can select the size of family they wish to help and a wish list will be provided. To sign-up, or for further instructions, call 816-419-1254.

Senior Thanksgiving meal

Local senior citizens are invited to the annual Senior Citizens’ Thanksgiving Banquet Monday, Nov. 25, hosted by the Harrisonville High School Student Council.

The banquet will take place in the HHS gymnasium beginning at 5:30 p.m.

After the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, entertainment will be provided by the HHS Jazz band and the show choir, Music Makers. There is no

Health services

The Women’s Health Services Belton Clinics will be held Nov. 26-27, and Dec. 3, 5, 10-12, 17, 19, and 30-31. The clinic is located at 119 Congress St., Belton. Other appointments are also available for supply pick-up. Participants must call for an appointment and cancellations should be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Services include comprehensive well woman exams such as clinical breast exam, pelvic, Pap smear, HIV and STD testing and treatment, pregnancy testing, reproductive and contraceptive counseling, as well as the issuance of contraceptive supplies.

Charges for reproductive health services are based on a sliding fee scale according to household income.

The clinic accepts all Missouri HealthNet, including Health Care USA, Missouri Care and Home State Health Plan, plus Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health Care and Cigna.

Christmas service

Area residents are invited to participate in the “Hanging of the Green” service Sunday, Dec. 1, at Faith Baptist Church, 23705 E. St. Rt. 2, Harrisonville. The event begins at 5 p.m. with a light meal and the making of a tree decoration. At 6:30 p.m., the program includes children helping hang the Christmas green with Bible readings and Christmas hymns. Open House

The University of Missouri Extension Cass County Center invites the public to attend an Open House, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 201 W. Wall Street, Harrisonville.

NARFE meeting

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Chapter No. 1012, will hold a luncheon meeting at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in Holmes Hall, Foxwood Springs Living Center, 1500 W. Foxwood Dr., in Raymore. The business meeting will begin at 11 a.m., lunch and the program to follow at noon. Nancy Griffin and Marysia Bojanski-Moore will entertain guests with holiday music. Photos with Santa

Cass Regional Medical Center, 2800 E. Rock Haven Rd., Harrisonville, will host "Photos with Santa" 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Dec. 7. Digital photos of Santa and your loved one/s will be taken in the Rotunda in front of the Christmas tree. Photos will be delivered by email. Public invited to attend. Holiday Craft Show

There will be a holiday craft show 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in the gymnasium at the Harrisonville Community Center, 2400 Jefferson Pkwy. The show will feature unique crafts and gifts presented by area merchants and artisans.

Christmas in the Cabin

Help decorate the the historic Sharp-Hopper cabin, 400 E. Mechanic St., Harrisonville, for Christmas from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Participants will have the opportunity to make old-fashioned holiday ornaments and decorations for the cabin’s walls, stringing of garland for the fireplace mantels, sewing stockings to be hung by the chimneys, and decorating Christmas trees.

Lighting of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree

Enjoy the lighting of the Harrisonville Mayor’s Christmas Tree and singing Christmas carols at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Marler Wirt Allen Park.

Wild game dinner

The Harrisonville American Legion Post No. 42 will be hosting their annual wild game dinner 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13. The event will be held at 303 E. Pearl St. Food and entertainment provided.

Holiday lights collection

Southeast Enterprises, a nonprofit sheltered workshop employing adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will be collecting non-working holiday lights for recycling at two Cass County locations Nov. 17-Jan. 26. Collection containers will be available at both the Harrisonville and Raymore Wal-Mart locations.
