Sherwood chose seniors Shannon Feurt and Cole Tellin as the November scholar-athletes of the month.
Feurt competed in the cross country state championships for the third time this season. She is also the only student athlete in school history to make the cross country state championships three times.
Besides being a running star in cross country and track and field, she has also proven to be a winner in the classroom. She has always made excellent grades and makes the honor roll every quarter.
She is an excellent young lady, Sherwood athletic director Scott Calhoun said. She takes pride in her conduct on and off the playing field. I can see her doing great things in her career. She is an excellent role model for the younger athletes below her.
Tellin was selected for the second time during his athletic career. He is coming off his last fall football season. The team finished by upsetting the No. 3 seed in districts, eventually losing to rival Holden. Tellin has been a regular starter for the last few years and does a solid job.
His best attribute to the school is his honor and integrity that he demonstrates to all those around him on a daily basis.
He is truly a hard worker, Calhoun said. Anytime I need a student to work he is willing and ready. I also notice this work ethic when he plays football. Cole is a good kid and will do great things in his life past high school.
