Estella Mae Forester, 77, of Peculiar, died at home Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. Estella was born Nov. 24, 1936, in Greeley, Colo., to Marion and Ethel Wakeman. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Lucille Werneke, Jackie Wakeman and Marvin Wakeman.

Estella attended college at Wichita State University (Kansas) where she majored in Music with a minor in Art. It was in Wichita where she met Charles Forester. The two were married Dec. 10, 1961. Two years later, they moved to Willard and had their first daughter, Rena. In 1967, they moved to Peculiar. The couple had a second daughter, Ellen, in 1969.

Throughout her life she shared her love for music and art. She taught music and art lessons both at home and in schools. At church, Estella enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the choir. She performed in the Cass County Community Band. Along with Rena, she was a member of the Kansas City Chorus of Sweet Adelines. For many years she enjoyed judging music and art competitions for the Greater Kansas City Christian Schools. Estella worked at the Raymore Music Store. Estella volunteered at Foxwood Springs.

In the recent years, she enjoyed being a member of the “Get-Together” MU extension club. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She was so proud of her twin grandchildren, Gracie and Elijah.

Survivors include her husband, Charles, daughters Rena (Wayland) and Ellen (Stephen), and grandchildren Gracie and Elijah Reynolds, and step-grandchildren Joel, Tyra and Ressa Davis, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, all donations be given to Serenity Care Hospice, 1626 E. Elm, Harrisonville, MO 64701.
