Bernice R. Whitcraft

Bernice R. Whitcraft, 94, of Neosho, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at her son’s home in El Reno, Okla.

Bernice was a long-time Freeman resident and had moved to Neosho in 1998. She was a retired Walmart employee at Harrisonville and a member of Neosho United Methodist Church.

She is survived by six children, Donald and Grace Whitcraft, of El Reno, Okla.; David and Doretta Whitcraft, of Wichita, Kan.; Donice and Jerry Parker, of Neosho; Debbie Morrow, of Neosho; Doug and Susie Whitcraft, of La Cygne, Kan.; and Dean and Patti Whitcraft, of Granby. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, including Donnie Whitcraft, of Cleveland; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Freeman Presbyterian Church, Freeman.

Anastasia “Stacy” Marie Allen-Madison

Anastasia “Stacy” Marie Allen-Madison, 42, of Harrisonville, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at her home. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Cremation.

Stacy was born Oct. 18, 1971, in Butler, the daughter of Wallace Ray and Esther Allen. She was a lifelong resident of Harrisonville. Stacy had worked as a CNA at local care facilities. She was a member of Berea Church of God in Christ in Harrisonville.

Stacy is survived by her husband, Dale Madison, Kansas City; one daughter, Megan Webster, Harrisonville; her father, Wallace Ray of Butler; her mother, Esther Allen, Harrisonville; one brother, Darcy Allen, Excelsior Springs, and one granddaughter, Arianna Allen.

Kristian Suzanne Klaus

March 23, 1965 - Dec. 2, 2013

Kristian Suzanne Klaus, 48, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, after a courageous battle with liver disease at Menorah Hospital.

Kristian was born March 23, 1965, the daughter of George Klaus and Sandra (Ritch) Phifer at Richards Gebaur AFB, Grandview. She graduated from Rampart High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., and DeVry University as a Telecommunications Network Engineer. She worked for Sprint in Overland Park, Kan., for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Klaus, and grandparents.

She is survived by her mother, Sandra Phifer, stepfather, Tim Phifer of Freeman, brothers, Patrick Klaus of Freeman and Brian Klaus of Oregon, daughter, Courtney Gregg, and son, Jeff Klaus, both of Freeman.

Kristian loved Florida and at times her work took her there. She took her daughter and niece there for vacation where they went parasailing, walked the beaches, and ate lots of seafood. Kristian was looking forward to welcoming her first granddaughter, Alexis, due in February.

Rodger Noland Lavelock, Sr.

Aug. 13, 1928 - Dec. 2, 2013

Rodger Noland Lavelock, Sr., 85, of Cleveland, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

Rodger proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines from 1945 to 1946.

Funeral services for Rodger were Dec. 7 at First Baptist Church of Cleveland under the direction of Wallace Funeral Home. Burial was in Glenwild Cemetery.

Nancy E. Dillon

Jan. 22, 1932 - Dec. 3, 2013

Nancy Elizabeth Dillon, 81, of Freeman, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Vitas Hospice in Kansas City. Funeral services were Dec. 7 at Freeman Baptist Church in Freeman with burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to church memorial fund.

Nancy was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Olympia, Ky., the daughter of Sidney P. and Fanny F. (Butner) Smith. She attended college in Bolivar for two years and received her B.S. in Education from Warrensburg Teachers College. She then received her Masters of Education at University of Wyoming in Laramie. Nancy taught rural school at Bethel No. 42 in Cass County from 1952-1955. She began teaching math and English at Cass-Midway Schools in 1956 and retired as a Librarian in 1998. While working at Cass-Midway, Nancy met Fred Dillon, who also was employed by the school, and they were united in marriage May 22, 1965 at Freeman Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Brewster officiating. Nancy was an active member of Freeman Baptist Church.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Fred, of the home; one daughter, Louise Irvin and her husband, Nick, Freeman; one brother, Jim Smith, Liberty; four sisters, Margaret Phillips, Raytown, Emma Carnegie and Francis Gibson, both of Mt. Vernon, Ruth Green, Walhalla, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Keillah Dillon, Izac Irvin.

Jeff N. Hyatt

April 15, 1973 - Dec. 4, 2013

Jeff Nelson Hyatt, 40, of Belton, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013.

He was born April 15, 1973, to Steve Nelson and Sandra Kay (Porter) Hyatt in Kansas City. Jeff attended Trails West State School and Belton High School.

Jeff worked for Beautiful Savior Nursing Home in Belton for over 15 years. He enjoyed working out at the community center, being at the Senior Center and spending time with friends and family.

On Nov. 29, 1998, he was baptized in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Raymore, where he has been a member for 15 years.

Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilma Hyatt, Christina Porter and John Kay Porter, and an uncle, Jerry Hyatt.

He is survived by his parents, Steve and Sandra Hyatt; brother Brian Hyatt and wife Soni; nieces, Christina and Lyndsay Hyatt; grandfather, Roy Hyatt; uncles John Hyatt and Ron Hyatt and wife Jo; several cousins, other relatives and many friends.

The memorial service was at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Raymore.

Patricia Wynn McDonald, 55, of Pierce City, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Congregational Church of Pierce City.

Patricia was born Jan. 1, 1958, in Monett, the daughter of Charles and Phyllis Ann (Kline) McDonald.

Mildred Catherine Palmer, 92, of Lee’s Summit, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at John Knox Village House, Lee’s Summit.

Private family graveside services were at Dayton Cemetery near Garden City. There was a memorial service at 11 a.m. Dec. 12 at John Knox Village Chapel, Lee’s Summit.

Norma Jean Mullen

Norma Jean (Sullins) Mullen, 79, of Adrian, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. Funeral services were Dec. 12 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery.

Norma Jean was born at her grandparents’ farm home, north of Adrian, the first child of Earlest Ely and Mabel N. (Pierce) Sullins.
