Bernice R. Whitcraft

Bernice R. Whitcraft, 94, of Neosho, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at her son’s home in El Reno, Okla.

Bernice was a long-time Freeman resident and had moved to Neosho in 1998. She was a retired Walmart employee at Harrisonville and a member of Neosho United Methodist Church.

She is survived by six children, Donald and Grace Whitcraft, of El Reno, Okla.; David and Doretta Whitcraft, of Wichita, Kan.; Donice and Jerry Parker, of Neosho; Debbie Morrow, of Neosho; Doug and Susie Whitcraft, of La Cygne, Kan.; and Dean and Patti Whitcraft, of Granby. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, including Donnie Whitcraft, of Cleveland; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Freeman Presbyterian Church, Freeman.

Pastor Tom Barthelmeh, of Miles City, Mont., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013.

Pastor Tom was the minister at Lord of Love Lutheran Church, Belton, in the 1970s.

Beth (Coleman) Williams

July 8, 1956 - Dec. 7, 2013

Beth (Coleman) Williams, 57, was born in Kansas City and died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.

In 1974, Beth joined the U.S. Army and proudly served her country for two years until her honorable discharge.

Cremation has been accorded. There was a Memorial Service on Dec. 15 at Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill with Chaplain Paul Budd officiating.

Glenn Edward Gebaur, Sr., 86, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

Glenn proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from October 1950 to August 1952.

Cremation has been accorded and there was a Memorial Service for Glenn Dec. 14 at First Baptist Church of Kansas City, Kan., with Pastor Bill Delphia officiating.

Patricia Ruth Ames, 64, of Edwards, was born the daughter of Maurice and Jane Stack. She died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Chesterfield.

Grace Arlene Bales, 93, of Harrisonville, was born in Anson, Kan., the daughter of James and Lula McCort. She died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville.

Funeral services were Dec. 17 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery, Lee’s Summit.

Winnie Blanche Viar

June 18, 1928 - Dec. 14, 2013

Winnie Blanche Viar, 85, of Lee’s Summit, formerly of Harrisonville, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Village Hospice House in Lee’s Summit. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Dec. 19 at Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Harrisonville. Visitation was 10-11 a.m. Dec. 19. Winnie was born June 18, 1928, in Goldsboro, Texas, a daughter of Charles and Nutie (Speaks) Burgen. She lived in Texas, Oklahoma, and Ft. Smith, Ark., before moving to Harrisonville 45 years ago. Winnie was united in marriage to Fred W. Viar on April 12, 1968, in Sallisaw, Okla. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Harrisonville and a charter member of Harrisonville Knot Hole Gang.

Winnie was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Winona Burgen; four sisters, Lola Mae Winters, Alice Moore, Loretta Brown, and Martha Turner; and two brothers, Newton Burgen and Jack Lutman.

Winnie is survived by her husband, Fred, of the home; two daughters, Donna Kaiser and husband Chuck, Jordan, Minn., and Cheryl Sutton, Albuquerque, N.M.; two stepsons, Rick Viar and wife Kim, Lee’s Summit, and Mick Viar, Kansas City; two stepdaughters, Patricia Leard and Lorry Viar, both of Kansas City; two brothers, Derrell Burgen and wife Mildred, Ark., and Bruce Burgen and wife Tracy, Georgia; one sister, Nettie Bates and Roy (Doc) Hawthorn, Texas; six grandchildren, Tara, Tina, Rohman, Courtney, Stacey, and Joshua; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, and Keaton.

Winnie (adoringly called “Pooh” by Fred) was a very devoted wife and mother who spent most of her days on their beloved family farm fishing, gardening, and caring for those around her. She baked a yummy carrot cake, enjoyed fried chicken and loved animals. She was a very spiritual lady who loved to speak of God’s love to those around her.

Larry Truman Bunch

Larry Truman Bunch, 74, of Adrian, died at his home Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013. Graveside services were Dec. 19 at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian.

Larry was born Sept. 16, 1939, in rural Sullivan County, near Milan, the son of Truman W. and Eunice (Lawrence) Bunch. He was a U.S. Army veteran, honorably discharged in 1964.
