Walter Leo Keating, 51, of Neosho, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Mercy McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage. He was born in Kansas City on Jan. 31, 1962, to Walter Dean Keating and Verna Larae Bennett Keating.

Walter attended high school in Belton and moved to Nevada 10 years ago. He owned his own construction business in Belton, Nevada and Neosho. He always had compassion for people and recently had volunteered along with friends and family after the Joplin and Granby tornados, helping any way he could. Walter was an avid hunter and fisherman and took every opportunity he could to enjoy both.

Survivors include Teresa of the home in Neosho, his father Walter and step-mother Bernie, Belton; two daughters, Amy Keating, Grandview, and Dessa Keating, Belton; two step-children, Dakota and Tisha Cochran; two grandsons Tarren Smith and Kayden Cambron; two brothers, Lyle D. Keating, and Donald L. Keating, both of Moundville; three sisters, Helen A. Crist and her husband Kevin, Independence, Nancy L. Sessler and her husband Curt, and Bonnie Sue Vail and her husband Raymond, Belton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at Ferry Funeral Home. Visitation was 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
