Belton’s Gladden Elementary Student Council decided to have a fundraiser to raise money for the Philippines. Large glass jars were labeled with grade levels and set on a table by the front office. For one week, students brought in change and dollar bills to put in the jars. At the end of the week, the money was counted up and donated to the Red Cross. On Dec. 9, representatives from the Red Cross visited Gladden to accept the donation and congratulate the students for raising over $671. Pictured is Student Council member and third grade student Sierra Paxton, right, presenting the check. The grade level with the highest number of donations was third grade with a total of $218.85.
