January 3, 2014

Devan Richardson

Prosecutors have accused a Raymore man of killing a man during a robbery-gone-bad in Kansas City last year.

Devan Richardson, 21, was charged with second-degree murder, attempted robbery and two counts of armed criminal action in connection with the Dec. 23, 2012, incident near 88th Terrace and Crystal Lane, nearly one year later, on Dec. 19.

According to court documents, Richardson and the victim, Samuel Clark, planned to rob two people of marijuana and cash. A gunfight broke out during the robbery, and Clark was wounded fatally.

Police arrested Richardson in an apartment near the scene, court records say.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Richardson is currently being held in the Jackson County Detention Center.
