Donald Coleman, 89, of Harrisonville, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City.

Donald was a Navy veteran of WWII.

There was a Masonic service Jan. 18 at Dickey Funeral Home under the auspices of Grand River Masonic Lodge No. 276 A.F. & A.M., Freeman, with the funeral following and interment in Wills Cemetery near Peculiar.

John Clarence Hart

June 19, 1931 - Jan. 13, 2014

John Clarence Hart, 82, of Creighton, was born in Kansas City, the son of John Milton and Lavern Zellers (Bedwell) Hart. He died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Pleasant Hill Health and Rehab Center.

Funeral service was Jan. 18 at Dickey Funeral Home, with burial in Wadesburg Cemetery near Creighton.

Bette Lee McCullough

Jan. 24, 1927 - Jan. 13, 2014

Bette Lee (Heffernon) McCullough, 86, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City.

Bette graduated school in Concordia, Kan. After graduation she obtained a nursing degree and was one of the first nurses in the U.S. to have specialized training as a cardiac surgical nurse.Bette proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy. After her military service, she returned to the Kansas City area.

Cremation. There will be a Graveside Service and Inurnment is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7801 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64138.

Annalee Cathrine DeMaranville

March 9, 1935 - Jan. 16, 2014

Annalee Cathrine DeMaranville, 78, of Harrisonville, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, in Harrisonville. Funeral services were Jan. 20 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Annalee was born March 9, 1935, in Kansas City, the daughter of Harry Greenbury and Hazel Lillian (Hennessy) Johnson. She had lived in Kansas City and Belton before moving to Harrisonville in 1959. She married Robert M. DeMaranville on March 21, 1951. Annalee was a homemaker and had worked as a seamstress for many years at local sewing factories. She was a member of the Harrisonville VFW Auxiliary and was Catholic.

Annalee was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert, on July 23, 1980. She is survived by one son, Robert DeMaranville, and one daughter, Connie Craig, all of Harrisonville; four grandchildren, Jimmy Craig, Mike Craig, Robbie DeMaranville and Michelle DeMaranville; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Donald Edward Greene

Oct. 1, 1923 - Jan. 17, 2014

Donald Edward Greene, 90, of Pleasant Hill, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at John Knox Village Hospice.

Don served his country honorably for four years in WWII. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, 2nd Marine Division, and fought in several major battles in the Pacific Theater including Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. At 19, he was field promoted to corporal and, at 21, field promoted to sergeant. All three of his brothers also served in the Armed Forces during WWII and his youngest brother, Billy, was killed in the Battle of the Bulge.

There was a memorial visitation 7-8 p.m. Jan. 23 at Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. A graveside service with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Bertie (Bert) L. Proctor

Bertie (Bert) L. Proctor, 85, of Peculiar, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Lee’s Summit.

Funeral services were Jan. 23 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Lee’s Summit, with burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar.
