Robert Leroy Hickerson, 85, of Harrisonville, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, surrounded by his family. Services were at 2 p.m. March 2 at Ararat Shrine Temple, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129. A visitation and reception for friends and family followed the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Ararat Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund.

Bob was born May 2, 1928, in Kansas City, the son of Samuel Leroy Hickerson and Ethel Irene (Corliss) Hickerson. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene, and great-grandson, Owen. Bob served in the U.S. Army Reserves for seven years. His career with Farmland Industries spanned more than 30 years, retiring as Supervisor in the Print Plant. He was a member of Mt. Washington Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Bodies and a very active member of Ararat Shrine Temple. He served as a Potentate’s Aide and was past president of the Cass County Shrine Club. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Harrisonville.

Bob leaves his wife of 68 years, Betty; children and spouses, Susan Hunnicutt (Stephen), Linda Smith, Betty Greving (John), Robert Hickerson, Jr., (Gina Westergard) and Janet Hill; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Barbara Wheeler (Wes); brother, Warren Hickerson (Sheila); as well as other family members and many friends.
