A Springfield woman was killed in a single-vehicle traffic crash Thursday, March 20.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Ashley Martin, 21, overcorrected while traveling eastbound on Route P at Roush Road at 6:30 a.m., causing her 2008 G6 Pontiac to run off the side of the road.

The vehicle overturned, then struck a fence and subsequently rolled into a pond, ejecting Martin, who was not wearing a seatbelt.

Martin, who was the only occupant in the car, was pronounced dead by Pleasant Hill paramedics.

The vehicle was totaled and removed from the scene by Johnson’s Tow.

MSHP troopers were assisted by Cass County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
