Belton High School juniors Robbie Maersch, Enoch Brewer and Michaela Dickerson were accepted into the 2014-15 Cerner Scholar Program.
The Cerner Scholars Program is a unique course offering that provides project-based learning opportunities that help students develop 21st century skills critical to obtaining a job in today’s workforce, closing the gap between traditional, classroom-based education and the real world.
Beyond developing students’ critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills, the program also exposes students to a wide variety of careers available in the fast-growing industries of information technology in health care. Students work and learn at Cerner for part of their school day to earn credit toward graduation. Many Cerner scholars have continued on to participate in paid summer and year-round internships.
