Harrisonville District plans first College Week

March 28, 2014

The Harrisonville School District invites the community to get involved with College and Career Week.

During the week of March 31-April 4, students, staff and teachers will celebrate College and Career Week 2014. Activities are planned throughout the district and include spirit days, door decorating, Questions of the Day at school, and, on Facebook, guest speakers, and more.

Community members are encouraged to participate in College Day on Friday, April 4, by wearing apparel supporting your favorite college. Throughout the week, the district encourages community members to fly college flags at their homes.

Businesses can include College and Career Week messages on their marquees or signage and/or decorate a window or area within the business. The Bright Futures Harrisonville Business Network will sponsor a contest with local businesses that decorate their lobbies, doors or windows. Contact Shauna Stephenson to enter the contest at 816-265-6952.

The district will post a “Question of the Day” on the Facebook page, www.facebook.com/HarrisonvilleSchools, and community members are invited to join the discussion.

Each school will have a door decorating contest and the district is looking for volunteers to judge the contest. The judging will take place at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 3.

To help judge or for additional information on College and Career Week, please contact Jill Filer at 816-380-2727 ext. 1224.
