Ray-Pec graduate honored

Alex Miller, a 2011 Ray-Pec High School graduate, was named The 2014 Newman Civic Fellow for Missouri State University-Springfield.

He is one of seven Newman Civic Fellows from the state of Missouri.

Alex, a senior, is a student leader and activist for hunger issues across America. For the past three years, Alex has dedicated himself to spreading awareness around issues of hunger and involving students in meaningful interactions with the community to understand the root causes of hunger.

He has planned service projects for hundreds of students, led an immersion trip to Chicago, and, as a service-learning student, has helped market and program an event focusing on healthy communities.

His leadership at Missouri State University has paved the way for hundreds to be involved in the fight against hunger and striving for healthier communities around the world.

Alex is the son of Jim and Kay Miller. Kay Miller is the music teacher at Timber Creek Elementary, Raymore. His sister, Erin Miller, is an art teacher at Ray-Pec East Middle School.
