Pitch, Hit & Run competition to be held in Harrisonville

April 7, 2014

Major League Baseball, along with Harrisonville Farmers Insurance agent Brad Seiner, will be hosting a free MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competition Saturday, April 26 at the North Park ball fields off of Jefferson Parkway in Harrisonville (just south of the Harrisonville Community Center).

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the event begins at 9 a.m. The competition is free of charge. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete in an event which recognizes excellence in core baseball and softball skills. Competitors will participate in all three events; pitching, hitting and running. Bats and balls will be provided, but competitors are asked to bring their own gloves.

Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. Boys and girls compete separately. In order to compete, the participant must have been born from July 18, 1999 to July 17, 2007.

Players have a chance to advance through four levels of competition, including team championships at Major League ballparks across the county (the local competitors would have an opportunity to play at Kauffman Stadium). The National Finals will be played at Target Field in Minneapolis during the 2014 MLB All-Star Game festivities in July.

The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, along with the all-around champion in each age and gender group at the Harrisonville competition, will receive awards and advance to the sectional level of play.

All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/wavier form prior to the start of the competition. Early registration is recommended, but walk-up registration is allowed the morning of the event.

For registration forms or more information please contact local coordinator, Brad Seiner, at 816-805-3760 or via email at bseiner@farmersagent.com, or stop by the Farmers Insurance – Seiner Agency office at 1808 N. Commercial St. in Harrisonville.
