Grant W. Huffman

June 22, 1935 - April 2, 2014

Grant W. Huffman, 78, of Belton, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

Memorial services were at 1 p.m. April 10 at Cullen Funeral Home with visitation 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Grant was born June 22, 1935, in Leavenworth, Kan., the son of Edward N. and Flora M. Bousman Huffman.

Grant was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a service technician for Neal Harris Heating and Air Conditioning Company for 33 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia A. Huffman; and brother, Edward B. Huffman.

Grant is survived by his sons, Michael J. Huffman and Raymond Dean Huffman (Rosie); daughter, Teresa A. Parcell (Darrell); brother, Raymond Huffman (Chris Hampton); sisters, Mary Ellen Walker and Flora V. Lockhart (Mark); seven grandchildren, Allen, Jeff, Mindy, Stephen, Scott, Katie and Matt; and four great-grandchildren.

Connie B. Dillon

Sept. 5 1941 - April 3, 2014

Connie B. Dillon, 72, a lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, was born the son of E.B. and Elsie V. (Buchanan) Dillon. He died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at his home as a result of an accidental drowning after falling into a well near his home.

Cremation. There was a memorial visitation April 9 at the funeral home.

Gayla June Clark Whisenand Williams

June 29, 1943 - April 3, 2014

Gayla June Clark Whisenand Williams, of Pleasant Hill, died Thursday, April 3, 2014. Gayla was born the daughter of Dorothy and Floyd Clark, Sr.

There was a Celebration of Life on April 8 at Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill with James Briggs officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Oct. 14 1924 - April 4, 2014

Martha LaVawn Ford, 89, of Pleasant Hill, died Friday, April 4, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at St. Bridget Catholic Church. The Recitation of the Rosary will be at 9 a.m. Graveside services and interment is at 1:30 p.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs.

Robert Neal Gilliland

Sept. 11, 1929 - April 4, 2014

Robert Neal Gilliland, 84, of Kansas City, was born the son of Emmett Lee and Bessie Adella (Davidson) Gilliland. He died Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Armour Oaks in Kansas City.

He was a U.S. Air Force Korean War Veteran.

Funeral services were April 9 at the funeral home.

Graveside military services and interment followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force and Pleasant Hill Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post No. 3118 Honor Guard.

Barbara Jean Jennings

Aug. 28, 1946 - April 5, 2014

Barbara Jean Jennings, 67, of Harrisonville, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. April 9 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial in Oakland Cemetery, Harrisonville. The family received friends 1-2 p.m. at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.

Barbara was born Aug. 28, 1946, in Ava, the daughter of Riley and Mandy (Williams) Wheeler. She married Richard L. Jennings on March 21, 1964. She had lived in Kansas City for 20 years before moving to Gunn City and then to Harrisonville, where she had lived for the past 11 years. Barbara had worked at Walmart for 13 years before retiring in 2010. She was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Temple in Blue Springs.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard.

She is survived by two sons, Keith Jennings (Tammy), Harrisonville, and Ricky Jennings, Texas; one daughter, Angelina Jean Krout, Warsaw; one brother, James Smith (Margaret), Grain Valley, and four grandchildren, Tabitha Jean Riffle, Charles Riffle, Ashley Barclay and Kayla Marks.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. April 10 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
