The Belton High School powerlifting team took home several honors recently at the Natural Athlete Strength Association High School Powerlifting Nationals in Oklahoma City.

Belton finished second in the nation as a team in the 9-12th Grade Combined Unequipped Powerlifting division, finishing just four team points behind Kearney High School (Mo.) and just ahead of a tough competitor from Tennessee. The Pirates’ 9/10th Grade Team finished as National Champions for the Power Press division (inclusion of power hang clean).

The Pirates qualified 14 athletes for the event, with 12 actually competing. In this competition, teams can only count their top 10 individuals in team scoring. There were 345 individual entries from all over the nation with teams from Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and other Midwest states.

Individual results are posted on the Pirate Power website, http://piratepower.weebly.com/nasa-hs-nationals-results.html.
