Alcohol may have been a factor in a motorcycle crash that injured two people on April 26.

Michael Holman, 23, Belton, was traveling eastbound on 205th Street in a 2003 Kawaski Motorcycle when he struck a 2009 Ford F350 traveling northbound on Y Highway at 12:23 a.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Holman failed to yield to the oncoming vehicle and was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact. He was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the truck, Kenneth Samson, 48, Grandview, suffered moderate injuries.

Holman suffered serious injuries in the crash and was later transported by ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City. Holman was also arrested and charged for driving while intoxicated, failing to yield, not wearing a helmet and for operating a motorcycle without a proper license.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
