Child hit by vehicle in Peculiar

A 6-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while on a bicycle.

The crash occurred in the area of South Street and E. Third Street in Peculiar shortly before 5:30 p.m. May 7.

 

Upon arrival, a Peculiar police officers and trained bystanders rendered aid to the child and requested a medical helicopter to the scene.

 

The West Peculiar Fire District arrived and started advanced life support.  The child was then transported by Life Flight Eagle to a local hospital.

 

The child was listed in stable condition as of late Wednesday evening.

 

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Peculiar Police Department.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Cass County Sheriff’s Department assisted crews at the scene.
