Nixon to give keynote speech at BHS graduation

May 9, 2014

The Belton School District is excited to announce that it will have a special guest at the 2014 Belton High School graduation. Gov. Jay Nixon will be the keynote speaker at this year’s event.

Students in the graduating senior class were told the news at their first graduation meeting May 1. BSD Board President John West was in attendance to talk to students about the visit and its rarity.

“This is a great opportunity for our district, as well as the City of Belton,” West said. “We are excited about this opportunity and welcome Gov. Nixon to our very important ceremony.”

The details of Gov. Nixon’s visit are still being discussed. The BHS graduation will take place at the Independence Event Center on Saturday, May 17.
