The Belton School District is pleased to announce Jean Selby as the new middle school principal. Selby will replace Michele Norman, who will leave the district at the end of the 2013-14 school year.
Selby comes to Belton from the Columbia School District, where she is currently the principal at Smithton Middle School. She has been in administration since 2005, working her way up from assistant principal to principal during that time.
“Throughout my 27 years of experience at the middle level,” Selby said, “in both the classroom and in leadership, it has been rewarding to work with other professionals towards a mission of making middle school a positive and productive experience for all students.”
Selby has her Bachelor of Science in Education (specifically grades 1-8) from William Woods College. She went on to receive her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Specialist in Leadership and Policy Analysis and Doctor of Education degrees from University of Missouri-Columbia.
Selby will join the Belton School District team next school year at the new middle school building.
Selby will be introduced at the Thursday, May 29, Board of Education meeting and meet the middle school staff on Friday, May 30.
