Memorial Day services
Memorial Day services at Glenwild Cemetery in West Dolan will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May, 26.
The American Legion will follow with services at 10 a.m. to honor veterans.
The Cass County Historical Society is hosting a “Tribute to Veteran’s Parade” on Monday, May 26.
Any veteran is encouraged to participate.
Veterans interested in walking in the parade should meet at the Raymore Presbyterian Church, 200 S. Jefferson St., Raymore, at 9:30 a.m. The parade will begin at 10 a.m..
The parade route will go east from the church on Maple Street, turning south on Washington Street, then east on Elm Street, and ending at the old portion of the Raymore Cemetery near Aspen Drive.

Memorial Day ceremony
Harrisonville’s VFW Honor Guard will host a Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26.
The event will begin on the Harrisonville Square in front of the WWI Doughboy Statue. Following a brief ceremony, members will caravan to other memorial sites, including the Harrisonville Football Stadium, Orient and Oakland Cemeteries, and the Korean-Vietnam Memorial.

The Women’s Health Services Belton Clinics will be held May 27, 28 and 29, and June 2, 3, 5, 10, 11, 17, 19, 24 and 25. The clinic is located at 119 Congress St., Belton.
Participants must call for an appointment and cancellations should be made at least 24 hours in advance.
Services include comprehensive well woman exams such as clinical breast exam, pelvic, Pap smear, HIV and STD testing and treatment, pregnancy testing, reproductive and contraceptive counseling, as well as the issuance of contraceptive supplies.
Charges for reproductive health services are based on a sliding fee scale according to household income.
An old-fashioned “Pie in the Face” fundraiser for Relay for Life will take place between noon-1 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at the Cass Regional Medical Center Healing Garden, 2800 E. Rock Haven Rd., Harrisonville.
Cost is $5 per pie or three for $10. Pie targets include Chris Lang and/or Brent Probasco.

The Stacks Youth Project will be holding their sixth annual garage sale 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, May 29-Saturday, May 31.
The sale will be held at Stacks’ new location, 305 N. Scott. The event is a fundraiser to support the groups activities for area teens.
Donations of usable merchandise in good condition is being accepted for the sale. Items may be dropped of at 305 N. Scott, between the hours of 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
There will be a memorial service for Dick and LaVeta Sanders at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Cass Midway School, 5801 2 Highway, Cleveland. Public is invited to attend.
The fourth annual Raymore Relay for Life Golf Tournament will be Monday, June 2, at Creekmoor.
Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Sponsors, donations, raffle items and golfers are needed.

Belton Fall Festival
Downtown Belton Main Street will host the 11th annual Belton Fall Festival on September 12-13.
The organization is actively seeking crafters and artisans to rent booth space.
The artists’ showcase will also be returning. Artists who are residents of Belton and Cass County are welcomed to enter one or two pieces into the showcase. They will be displayed during the festival and festival-goers will be able to vote on their favorite pieces.
There will be a festival meeting 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Whistle Stop Antiques, 315 Main St., for individuals who are interested in serving as volunteers, sponsors, or have ideas to contribute.

Clara Brierly WAM Festival
The Downtown Peculiar Arts and Culture District invites the public to the sixth annual Clara Brierly “Wine, ART, Music” Festival June 6-8 in downtown Peculiar.
Hours of operation will be 5-10 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday; and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
The festival will include a variety of art vendors, bands, kids’ activities, food, wine tastings, a talent show, a national country music talent search and open mic.
Admission is free. A listing of events and times or to sign up for the talent show, country talent search or open mic, can be found on the Downtown Peculiar website.
The Cass County Elks Lodge No. 2791 will be hosting a free fishing derby Saturday, June 7, for children up to 17 years old.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Harrisonville City Park Ampitheater.
Fishing will take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The first 200 children to register will receive a free Zebco fishing pole and Eagle Claw tackle box.
No fishing license needed. Prizes will be awarded.
Event open to the public. Hot dogs, water and soda provided.
Bring our children home
Cass County’s “Bring our Children Home” event will be 5-11 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Mill Creek Elementary in Belton.
The event will feature live bands, a cake walk, and drawings. Proceeds benefit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Walk for Health
The 20th Annual Walk for Health to benefit Cass County Dental Clinic is Saturday, June 7.
Teams are currently forming and registration is still open. Registration opens at 8 a.m. and the walks begins at 9 a.m. At 10:30 a.m., a post-walk celebration is scheduled which will include food courtesy of Cosentino’s Price Chopper, music, community health fair and block party, and prizes.
The health fair will be held under the Health Fair Tent on the hospital’s campus front grounds 8-11 a.m. Participants who raise $100 or more in contributions will receive the official 2014 “Walk for Health” T-shirt.

Cass County Relay for Life would like to recognize cancer survivors during the annual relay event at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Harrisonville Middle School.

The seventh annual Creekmoor Ladies’ Member-Guest charity golf tournament will be June 20-21 at Creekmoor Golf Club.
The event will benefit Hope Haven of Cass County, a service provider for domestic and sexual violence.

The Harrisonville VFW Men’s Auxiliary Post 4409’s monthly meeting has been changed to the first Monday of each month.
The auxiliary meets at 1804 N. Commercial St., Harrisonville.
Civil Air Patrol
The Civil Air Patrol’s Cass County Composite Squadron meetings are at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The squadron meetings are at 208 W. Pearl Street, Harrisonville.
CAP volunteers include cadets between 12-18 and Senior offices for those ages 18 and older.
Programs include cadet activities, emergency services and aerospace education. CAP is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Interested individuals are invited to come by for a visit and meet the cadet staff and senior officers.
The American Legion in Harrisonville, 303 E. Pearl St., invites all interested veterans to attend their meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month.
The American Legion motorcycle riders will meet at 7 p.m.
