Richard Paul Polzin, 70, of Lee’s Summit, was born in Baltimore, Md., the son of Paul Leo and Edith Jeannette (Parker) Polzin. He died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.

Richard was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Funeral services were May 20 at Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City. Burial was in Lutheran Cemetery, Creighton.

Joann Ruth Famuliner

Jan. 2, 1934 - May 15, 2014

Joann Ruth Famuliner, 80, of Garden City, died Thursday, May 15, 2014.

Joann was born in Windsor to the late James and Kathryn Wooster.

Funeral Mass was May 20 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery near Latour.

Ethel Margaret Kirby

April 24, 1930 - May 20, 2014

Ethel Margaret Kirby, 84, of Archie, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at her home. Graveside services were May 23 at New Home Cemetery in Warsaw under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home in Archie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice of Butler, 612 West Fort Scott Street, Butler, MO 64730.

Ethel was born April 24, 1930, in Wisdom, Benton County, the daughter of Johnnie and Susie (Barr) Smallwood. She was a 1949 graduate of Warsaw High School and received her teaching certificate from Warrensburg Teachers College. She taught at rural Benton County Schools for three years, including Poplar School. She married her best friend, Ronald M. Kirby, on Oct. 12, 1950, in Sedalia.

Ethel worked for the U.S. Department of Energy as an Administrative Assistant in Kansas City for 30 years before retiring. She lived in Peculiar from 1970 until 1988 when she moved to Archie. Ethel was a very devout Christian. She was a member of Memorial Christian Church in Kansas City but attended Archie Methodist Church.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Ronald, of the home; one sister, Mildred Bell, Sedalia, and many nieces and nephews.

Frederick A. Schwab, Jr.

April 8, 1937 - May 21, 2014

Frederick Anthony Schwab, Jr., 77, of Pleasant Hill, was born in Beloit, Wis., the son of Frederick A. and Pearl C. Schwab, Sr. He died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

Funeral services were May 28 at the funeral home. Interment was in Floral Hills East Cemetery, Lee’s Summit.

Lewis Dale Lincoln

May 25, 1929 - May 22, 2014

Lewis Dale Lincoln, 84, of Raymore, formerly of Archie, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore. Funeral services were May 27 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor. Memorial contributions may be made to NARFE Alzheimer’s or Crossroads Hospice.

Lewis was born May 25, 1929, in Leeton, the son of Hubert J. and Margaret Angeline (Edwards) Lincoln. He married Anita Evelyn Rauch on Feb. 2, 1956. Lewis was a graduate of University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in agriculture.

Lewis devoted his entire 33-year career in service to the U.S.D.A. He worked as a criminal investigator in the Office of the Inspector General for the last 19 years of his career, before retiring in 1986. He was a life member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Lewis was a devoted Christian and served the Lord. He was a member, and had served as treasurer for several years, of Everett Community Church in Archie.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James Lincoln and two sons, Michael and Richard Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, Anita, of the home; four children, Patricia Leonard (Jeff), Lee’s Summit, Theresa Kralik (Randy), Raymore, Brian Lincoln (Cathy), Lee’s Summit, and Christopher Lincoln (Karen), Garden City; daughter-in-law, Nancy Lincoln, Raymore; 12 grandchildren, Jeff, Adam, Shannan, Dustin, Staci, Katlyn, Todd, Bradley, David, Becca, Nathan and Haley and 11 great-grandchildren, Maddison, Collin, Madelynn, Stormy, Teegan, Kaiya, Brayden, Riley, Kasha, Ethan and Amelie.

Dorene Carol Freeland, 96, of Belton, formerly of Peculiar, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at her home. Funeral services were May 29 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar.

On April 10, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ivan Adair.
