Patricia Sue McGill

Jan. 13, 1941 - May 13, 2014

Patricia Sue McGill, 73, was born in Strasburg and died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at her home in Odessa. She was the daughter of Floyd Arthur and Zelma Louise (Becker) Thurman.

Cremation. There will be a Graveside Service and Inurnment at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill.

Jack B. Clay

Jan. 3, 1930 - June 10, 2014

Jack B. Clay, 84, of Harrisonville, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at his home. Graveside services were June 14 at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens Cemetery in Shawnee, Kan.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Jack was born Jan. 3, 1930, in King, Ark., the son of W. Forda and Rosie C. (Bruce) Clay. He was a 1948 graduate of Harrisonville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He married Nellie Joan Conner on Aug. 15, 1950, in Kansas City.

Jack worked for General Motors as a water treatment operator for 38.5 years before retiring Nov. 1, 1987. He had lived in Shawnee, Kan., for 26 years before moving to Butler in 1989. He moved back to Harrisonville in 2006.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bruce Clay, one sister, Eula Mae Gray, and his wife of 62 years, Joan, on Nov. 3, 2012.

Hs is survived by one son, Gary W. Clay, of Webster, Mass.; one daughter, Donna Nielson, Lenexa, Kan.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dale Francy, Jr.

May 28, 1952 - June 11, 2014

Dale Francy, Jr., 62, was born in Harrisonville and died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at his home in Pleasant Hill,. He was the son of Frederick Dale Francy, Sr., and Mary Lou Francy.

He had proudly served in the Missouri National Guard for six years.

There was a graveside service June 17 at Strasburg Cemetery, Strasburg, with Elder Butch Shewmaker officiating.

Elizabeth Ruth Stephenson

Elizabeth Ruth Stephenson, 54, of Belton, formally of Lake Ozark, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014.

She was predeceased by her father, Leslie H. Bozarth, and brother, Leslie S. Bozarth.

She leaves her son, Brent Wheeler, Lake Ozark; husband, Paul Stephenson, Peterlee, Great Britain; mother, Peggy Bozarth, Belton; siblings, Stan Bozarth and Teresa Grimaluskus, Belton, Jeremiah and Joshua Bozarth, Kansas City, and Connie Bozarth, Corvallis, Ore., as well as several nieces and nephews.

Cremation, private memorial in Oregon.

Shirley Ann Dobson

Feb. 28, 1939 - June 14, 2014

Shirley Ann Dobson, of Raytown, died Saturday, June 14, 2014. She was married for 52 years to Buddie Lee Dobson, who preceded her in death Nov. 12, 2011. Mom to Tammy Dobson (Michelle), Kansas City, and Kent Dobson (Julie), Raytown; granny to Brandon Dobson (Samantha), Raytown, and Tori Quinones, Springfield; great-granny to Bethany Dobson, Leo Ramos, Ezra Dobson and Audrey Dobson.

Shirley’s passion was caring for her family, having weekly family night and large family reunions. For many years, she enjoyed singing in the Westridge Christian Church choir, including various cantatas. Shirley also was a member of Voices of Joy and the Trio. For several years, she also led crafts for VBS. She was particularly fond of decorating each room of her home with a different theme for Christmas. In later years, Buddie and Shirley especially enjoyed attending weekly senior dances, which was fitting because they first met at a VFW dance.

Born Feb. 28, 1939, in Bonner Springs, Kan., she was raised primarily in the Cass County area, graduating from Archie High School.

In addition to Buddie, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William Price and Lillie Simmons, her sisters, Jennie Dale and Marjorie Day, and her brothers, Roy Simmons, Norman Lee Simmons, and William Price Simmons, Jr.

Besides her immediate family, Shirley is survived by sisters, Bonnie Simmons, Lee’s Summit; Phyllis Alexander, Archie; Arthur Simmons, Marshall, Mich., and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

There was a graveside service June 18 at Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Rhonda Marie VanSickle, 53, of Lee’s Summit, was born in Van Nuys, Calif., the daughter of Bill and Marie (Seward) VanSickle. She died Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. June 19 at Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
