Frank V. Oram

Frank V. Oram, 85, of Drexel, died Monday, June 16, 2014, at his home.
Frank was born June 1, 1929, in Garden City. He was the son of William R. and Alma L. (Cornett) Oram. Frank grew up and attended a small country school outside of Drexel.
Betty McKinney and Frank were married Feb. 2, 1948, in Fort Scott, Kan. They became the parents of six children. They made their first home in Beagle, Kan.; later they moved to Sisquoc, Calif. Albuquerque, N.M., became their home in 1963. It was in 1964 that they moved back to Paola, Kan. Drexel had been their home for the past 21 years.
Frank worked as a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers Union for many years. He also farmed, repaired small engines and always worked with his hands.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty who died April 1, 2013, his parents, one daughter Betty who died in infancy, a son Frankie Victor Oram, Jr., one brother Lawrence Oram, and two sisters Pauline McRoberts and Geraldine Seiler.
He is survived by his children Norma Kiser (Jerry) of Osawatomie, Kan., Peggy Oram of Garnett, Kan., Teresa Kilgore Hawley (George) of Osawatomie, Kan., Thomas Oram (Karen) of Overland Park, Kan., and daughter-in-law Judy Oram of Drexel; one sister Helen Hammer of Boise, Idaho; 14 grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren; and so many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Friday, June 20, at First Baptist Church, 105 S. Third St., Drexel. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m.
