Kid’s cafe

Our Savior Lutheran Church’s Summer Kids’ Cafe sponsored in partnership with Harvesters will be held daily Monday-Thursday from 11:45-12:30 p.m. through July 31. Kids ages 1-18 are welcomed. For more information, call 816-380-4800.

VBS

West Line Christian Church will be hosting a ‘Ridin with God-themed Vacation Bible School on July 7-11. The church is located on Main Street in West Line, near the intersection of Rt. D and 2 Hwy. The public is invited to attend.

Special needs camp

The inaugural Kids Champs summer camp will be 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. July 7-11 at the Belton Community Center. The camp is for children with special needs (OHI, autism, Down’s Syndrome, etc.) Activities include swimming, team skills, arts and crafts, team sports and play therapy. Cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt, lunch, snacks and supplies for activities. Contact Nikki Mackay at 816-616-7794 for more information.

Bunco party

The Raymore Lions Club is hosting a Bunco Party at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at El Dorado Restaurant, 404 W. Pine St., Raymore. All proceeds will go toward local community service projects. Bunco cards are $10 each. There will also be prizes and a raffle. Participants are encouraged to come early to enjoy dinner at the restaurant.

Senior bingo

The monthly Freeman senior bingo event will be Tuesday, July 8. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. at the Freeman Community Building. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dessert and a white elephant prize. Call 816-779-4210 for questions.

Health services

The Women’s Health Services Belton Clinics will be held July 8, 9, 15, 17, 22, 23, 29 and 31. The clinic is located at 119 Congress St., Belton. Participants must call for an appointment and cancellations should be made at least 24 hours in advance. Services include comprehensive well woman exams such as clinical breast exam, pelvic, Pap smear, HIV and STD testing and treatment, pregnancy testing, reproductive and contraceptive counseling, as well as the issuance of contraceptive supplies. Charges for reproductive health services are based on a sliding fee scale according to household income.

Health class

The University of Missouri Extension office will be hosting a free “Getting Back to Better Health” six week course to help adults with chronic illnesses such as asthma, COPD, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, auto-immune disease and cancer to gain self-confidence in their ability to control their symptoms and how their health problems affect their lives. The course will be held 2:30-4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning July 9, at the Extension Office in Harrisonville. The class will be led by Susan Mills-Gray, nutrition/health Specialist.

The class is sponsored by a Missouri Arthritis Foundation Grant and pre-registration is required by Monday, July 7. Call 816-380-8460 to register.

Clay Potters

The Clay Potters Garden Club will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, July 17, at the home of Judy Mary, 414 N. Park Dr., Raymore. Mary demonstrate how to propagate favorite plants with little effort to no extra cost. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to attend. Quilt appraisal

Lori East, a certified American Quilters’ Society appraiser will be available by appointment to appraise quilts at the Cass County Fair 1-8 p.m. Friday, July 18 and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, July 19.

Written appraisals on new and antique quilts are $45. Verbal appraisals on antique quilts only are $25. Contact Janice Britz at 816-419-1327 to schedule an appointment.

Walk-ins will be accepted if there are no scheduled appointments.

Historical society

The Belton Historical Society will hold their quarterly meeting 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the Belton Museum, located in the old City Hall building at 512 Main St. Guest presenter is Diane Rogers, an area author who has written and published 10 books. Rogers will have copies of her books available for purchase at the meeting and will be happy to visit and answer questions at the end of her presentation. All are welcome to attend. Ice cream social

The Peculiar Lions Club, in honor of National Ice Cream Day, is hosting a homemade ice cream social 1-3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the Lions Community Building, 500 Schug Ave., Peculiar.

For a $5 donation, guests can choose three scoops of assorted flavors of ice cream, as well as desserts, along with coffee and tea. All proceeds will be shared between Leader Dog for the Blind and Children Center for the Visually Impaired. For more information, call Sharon Shores 816-779-5061.

Class reunion

The Belton High School All Class Reunion and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be Saturday, Aug. 2, at Belton High School Commons, 801 W. North Ave.

RSVP deadline is Tuesday, July 8. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon. Cost is $12 a person. Make your check payable to the Belton Educational Foundation, 110 W. Men’s Auxiliary

The Harrisonville VFW Men’s Auxiliary Post 4409’s monthly meeting has been changed to the first Monday of each month.

The auxiliary meets at 1804 N. Commercial St., Harrisonville.

Civil Air Patrol

The Civil Air Patrol’s Cass County Composite Squadron meetings are at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The squadron meetings are at 208 W. Pearl Street, Harrisonville.

CAP volunteers include cadets between 12-18 and Senior offices for those ages 18 and older.

Programs include cadet activities, emergency services and aerospace education. CAP is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Interested individuals are invited to come by for a visit and meet the cadet staff and senior officers.

American Legion

The American Legion in Harrisonville, 303 E. Pearl St., invites all interested veterans to attend their meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month.
