The Cass County Democrat Missourian invites voters to learn more about the candidates running for county offices in the August Primary election at an upcoming forum.

“Part of our responsibility as journalists extends beyond just reporting the news, but bringing information to the voters,” Democrat Missourian Publisher John Beaudoin said.

The forum will be Tuesday, July 29, in the Harrison and VanBuren Rooms of the Harrisonville Community Center, 2400 S. Jefferson Pkwy.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. for networking and to allow candidates to distribute campaign material. The question-and-answer-style forum will begin at 6:30 p.m..

Candidates will be asked general questions about the county, in addition to some specific questions about the office they are running for.

All of the candidates who will be listed on August ballot have confirmed their participation in the forum.

Candidates, who are all Republicans, include Presiding Commissioner candidates Jeff Cox and Dave Morris; Div. 3 Associate Circuit Judge candidates Meryl Lange and Stacey Lett; Circuit Clerk candidate Kim York; and Auditor candidates Ron Johnson and Ryan Wescoat.

“The Aug. 5 primary will prove to be a telling election in an important mid-term election year, so I am thrilled the candidates have all agreed to participate,” said Beaudoin, who will moderate the event.
