A 26-year-old woman was shot in the face last weekend at a Harrisonville apartment complex.

Harrisonville police said Corey Roderick, 24, is accused of shooting his girlfriend in the left side of her face with a .38 caliber revolver inside a living unit at the Twin Oaks Apartments during the early morning hours of Aug. 16.

Investigators were called to the scene, at 904 Twin Oaks Terrace, at 12:30 a.m.

According to court documents, Roderick helped transport the victim to the emergency room at Cass Regional Medical Center in a vehicle driven by a friend.

Harrisonville EMS then transported the victim to Research Main Hospital in Kansas City for further treatment.

Authorities said the victim’s injuries are non-life-threatening and she is expected to recover.

Police said they recovered the weapon at the scene and Roderick was arrested on three felony charges: second-degree domestic assault (prior domestic violence offender), armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to Missouri’s Case Net, Roderick was arrested on a felony count of domestic assault in March 2010.

He was convicted on that charge on Sept. 22, 2010.

Roderick was transported to the Cass County Jail and was being held on a $75,000 cash or surety bond.
